Thélá:ylexw awtxw Foundation, The House of Life Givers is a Stó:lō Women’s non-profit organization dedicated to amplify the voices and leadership of Stó:lō women, to connect and learn with and from eachother, and to engage in discussion to learn and meet the self-identified needs of Stó:lō women by Stó:lō women.

Our Strength is Each Other

As we connect and gather, we hope to learn and lean on each other, strengthen relationships across generations, and strengthen our approach to shared issues and concerns for grassroots-level social change.

OUR BEGINNINGS

​In 2017, Stó:lō women, Angie Bailey, Leslie Bonshor, Rhoda Peters, Wendy Ritchie, Joanne Hugh, Brenda Morgan, Lolly Andrew and Inez Louis met to discuss a gathering for Stó:lō women. What resulted were two amazing gatherings, that set out one main priority - to continue gathering so we can reclaim, revitalize and restore our role in the community.

At the inaugural gathering in September 2018, we brought Stó:lō women together, listened to inspiring Matriarchs Rena Bolton and Dr. Gwen Point, and we listened to each other. 

The message was clear. We want to be organized. We need to bring forward our old ways. We are the strength of our families and communities. We have a rightful place in upholding the rights of our people. We are the Grandmothers, Mothers and Aunties.
